Paul’s 10 now!
We had a great celebration last Saturday with friends of Paul’s from school. He also invited our new friend, Sharon, who is working here this year with YFC Chiang Mai and the international schools. So that Sharon wouldn’t feel out of place, Paul also invited his teacher, Ms. Sara. I think everyone had good fun bowling and just being together. Paul’s teacher, Ms. Sara, has a unique connection with Paul this year, and I think they will be an equal blessing to each other.
I met Ms. Sara on new student orientation day. We chatted a bit when I learned that Paul would have her this year. Soon into our chat, I learned that she was from Indiana and she had also just graduated from Indiana University in June…a fellow Hoosier for Paul. What a treat! I shared that detail with Paul and he thought that was pretty cool. So when the first day of school rolled around, I wasn’t surprised but I was touched when I saw that Paul had donned his one and only Indiana University shirt…of his own chosing. I received a note home from his teacher at the end of the first day…which read, “I loved the IU shirt! You made me feel so loved on my first day of school. Paul is such a great kid!”
I guess that sums up Paul for this place and this time. He can be such a thinker and a feeler. He’s working hard in 4th grade. He cares about how his classmates are getting along or how they aren’t. Sometimes when I watch Paul…and consider how God is working in his life, right now, unbeknownst to him, I am overwhelmed with joy. Thank you Lord for all my children…the memories You allow me to treasure, the situations to ponder and pray over, and the ages and stages where they have been, are right now, and will be in the future. Thank you, Lord, for your blessings!
